Talking about painting ...
Painting is one of the most ancient and widespread arts, maybe for the
immediateness and spontaneity of its tools, maybe for its ability to
absorb and generate emotions, like being a huge magic container for
the feelings and secrets of the human heart.
In our society, so careful to image, we know and judge the world especially
through our eyes. The pictorial means becomes then a privileged channel
to create a chink between the world of appearance and the essential
being of the things, to dispel Maya's veil impeding us to see and understand
what it is, or only to open a small hole close straight afterward, through
which, for only a moment, whose watching glimpse something, "as
an eye that wide, amazed,/ open and close, in the dark night" (G.
Pascoli, 1894 “Myricae”, The lightning).
The essence of art is just this: dig in the mistery of things using
emotions and logic intuition.
The language is the one of colours, abstract shapes and of objects than
can be portrayed, that in the human mind they become full of symbolic
value.
The painter during the creative act weaves his painting of meanings,
often unconscious, and gets excited in front of the fruit of his hands
and soul. In his heart, he hopes that also others see what he sees:
his message, himself.
I now leave to others the task of separating the fruit-bearing plant
from the weed, to tell the difference between a work of art and a scribble,
to evaluate also my "attempts" and to count them among what
art is not.
